Mesut Guler, a 22-year-old Sunnyvale resident, was arrested on a $1 million warrant that Sunnyvale investigators had obtained during the course of the chase.

Guler reportedly was stopped at a checkpoint in Mexico and questioned by Mexican authorities. The Mexican authorities contacted Border Patrol agents in Lukeville, Ariz., at which point the agents discovered the warrant for Guler’s arrest.

U. S. Border Patrol is coordinating with Mexican authorities on the transfer of Guler and his son to U.S. authorities.
