Lifeguard divers have found the body of a 20-year-old man who went missing Thursday night after a boat collision at El Capitan Reservoir, a San Diego fire department spokesman said Friday.
Divers had resumed the search for the man Friday morning, and he was found under about 35 feet of water, the spokesman said. Another man also died in the two-boat collision at the reservoir near Lakeside.
A speeding boat crashed into another that was adrift in the San Diego-owned reservoir off El Monte Road in the Cleveland National Forest around 7:20 p.m. Thursday, said police Sgt. David E. Jennings. Both vessels capsized.
Jennings said the two occupants of the speeding boat suffered numerous minor lacerations and were hospitalized following the crash.
A 21-year-old man from the other boat died at the scene, and his companion could not immediately be located, Jennings said. The multi-agency search was suspended overnight, authorities said.
San Diego police are conducting the investigation into the crash because it happened in a city-owned reservoir.
