The California Highway Patrol has arrested 21 drivers for drunken driving in San Diego County this holiday weekend, according to statistics released Friday. That's one fewer than the same period last Thanksgiving.
The statistics cover the period beginning 6 p.m. Wednesday through 6 a.m. Friday.
Statewide, there were 352 drunken driving arrests. That's 20 fewer than last year, according to CHP Officer Tommy Doerr.
He said there were 10 fatalities statewide — four fewer than last year. San Diego County had recorded one fatality. There were two deaths during the same period last year.
The drunken driving arrests were made only by the CHP, while the number of fatalities was in all law enforcement jurisdictions, Doerr said.
