Solana Center Educator Deanna Milton and guest speaker Craig Kolodge, PhD, Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control will explore effective compost application as a means of watershed protection through a case study of the manure composting demonstration site at Ramona’s International Equestrian Center. This workshop will conclude with a tour of the Water Conservation Garden’s watershed protection features. Panelist: Craig Kolodge, Ph.D., is the former academic advisor, field plant pathologist and county director for the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) in Santa Clara County. He currently serves as the Business Development and Sustainability Manager for San Pasqual Valley Soils. Craig is a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) and expert in the use of compost-based Sustainable Management Practices (SMPs) for stormwater management and industrial pollution management (Trainer of Record for Qualified Industrial Stormwater Practitioner – QISP statewide program). San Diego Foundation ArtWalk is back at Liberty Station for its 20th year, bringing a weekend-long celebration of arts and culture to San Diego’s Liberty Station. The festival celebrates creativity from both sides of the border, with more than 175 artists coming from across several states and Mexico to show and sell their artwork, including paintings, photography, glass and ceramics, jewelry, and sculpture. For families, there will also be a KidsWalk with a variety of hands-on art activities and experiences. The ARTS DISTRICT at Liberty Station has earned its place as San Diego’s premier venue for arts, museums, dining, and entertainment. The fabulous outdoor setting features a verdant lawn and an abundance of free parking. The venue will have a perimeter fence, even though admission is free. The fence allows attendees to enjoy beer and wine (for those 21 years and over), while strolling around the event, rather than having to remain in a beer garden. Meet guide dogs and puppies in training with Guide Dogs of America on Friday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The event will include a live presentation, meet & greet*, storytime, special craft, and more! Get ready for a little friendly competition and a fun adventure in Little Italy! We'll be hiding over 100 Easter Eggs all around for you to find while also hunting for historic clues about America's Larges Little Italy! It will be a great way to explore, socialize and have fun with dozens of others. Here is how it works: Check in is at 10 a.m. at Ballast Point Brewing. We'll randomly set people up on teams or you can bring your own team (up to 4 people per team). Each team will be given 75 minutes to find as many of the hidden eggs as possible. You will also be searching for historic clues about Little Italy. Each egg and each clue are worth points. There will also be Mini Kegs & "Bunny Bonus Points"! When the time is up, your team will return to Ballast Point to tally up the scores, socialize, eat and drink. Prizes will be awarded to the top teams.Can I Come Alone? Yes, 90% of those attending will likely be coming on their own. If you come alone we will randomly set you up on teams. (Teams of 4 people) What Else Are We Looking For?
