In the gallery, their large-scale canvases envelop us with the omnipresent beauty of Nature. Bennett’s animated brushstrokes and sumptuous color-washes coax luminous landscapes into being. Inspired by the healing experience of Japanese "forest-baths" (shinrin-yoku), Dunn paints a sensual arboreal space using vibrant hues and quasi-representational forms. Free and open to the public. The emphasis of both the Encinitas Spring Street Fair and the Holiday Street Fair is on arts, handmade crafts, antiques, and ethnic imports. Create a professional arm-rod-and-mouth puppet of your very own from Rene Rubalcava, owner and puppeteer of LV Puppet Studio of Las Vegas who learned the art of puppet making from a Jim Henson Muppeteer. There’s no better time to create your own one-of-a-kind fuzzy monster! In this workshop, we guide you from start to finish as you select, cut, hot glue and assemble the pieces and personality of your own customized puppet. No sewing is required in this workshop. Students bring their puppets to life with their own unique interests and imaginations, and by choice and placement of different face details. Each one is unique! "Save the Ocean 5" art and poetry exhibition from March 26 to May 28 celebrates the richness of the ocean environment by displaying a variety of mediums from a diverse range of artists, whose work is about the ocean world. Front Porch Gallery in collaboration with Surfing Madonna Oceans Project endeavors to promote a love and understanding of the fragile coastal environment by encouraging people to be stewards of the ocean, to appreciate what we have and preserve it for future generations. Artists will have the opportunity to share their experience at Docent Tours, and poets will be invited to read at the reception. Throughout the exhibition we’ll host opportunities for the community to view the work and experience creative engagements at the gallery through making, discussing, and viewing programs.
