  • A money-obsessed NYC matchmaker is wooed by a financial investor and a cater waiter in a romantic drama that has its protagonist finding strength and emotional growth via a side character's suffering.
  • Thursdays, May 15, 22, 29, June 5, 12, 19, 26, 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Stained glass is unusual among the arts because of its direct relationship with light. When light passes through colored glass, different values, textures, and densities combine to form an extraordinary palette. Explore this magic by creating your own unique leaded stained-glass panel. In this 7-week course, you will learn from stained glass professional Lisa Maywood as you complete one or more 2-dimensional panels that will transform any room or space. The enrollment fee covers the cost of basic drawing materials, lead, solder, cement, and the use of the tools and machinery. Glass will be procured by each student on their own outside of class. Vintage Glassworks Studio (was Blue Dolphin Glass) is a great local source in San Diego. If you prefer your own supplies, please bring your own colored pencils and paper that is larger than 12″x12″ to the first class as you plan your project(s). It is also recommended that you bring your own safety gear (eye protection, dust mask, gloves). We have eye protection available if you do not have your own. There is no prerequisite for this class. • Four performers mount their treadmills, and the challenge begins. Burnout Paradise tests the limits of mind, body, and spirit in an increasingly frenetic juggling act of absurdity. A delusional love letter to the reckless labor and euphoric optimism before burnout, demonstrating that the system isn’t designed for us: it’s designed to break us. Australia’s Pony Cam evokes the recklessness, euphoria, and optimism that comes before burnout. What begins as a simple wager between performer and audience becomes a desperate and hilarious attempt to complete a series of escalating tasks that challenge the performers’ bodies, spirits, and minds. This is not an endurance feat. Nor is it performance art. It is a spirited realization that overachievement is no mere spectator sport. It relies on the kindness of strangers. “One of the most frenetically uproarious shows of gloriously demented ecstasy.” – Time Out “Magnificently chaotic, breathlessly frenetic fun” – THE SCOTSMAN “A truly exceptional theatrical experience” – BRITISH THEATRE GUIDE Visit: "Burnout Paradise" La Jolla Playhouse on Instagram and Facebook
