Artistic Director, Christian Tordahl takes the stage again leading the talented Hillcrest Wind Ensemble for what promises to be a night of fun and excitement. The ensemble presents “Summer Fun” a collection of light wind ensemble music and music from movies and the Broadway stage, on Saturday, June 28, at Linder Hall at the First United Methodist Church of San Diego, 2111 Camino del Rio South, in Mission Valley. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at hillcrestwindensemble.com or at the door. Join us for complimentary hors d'oeuvres at 6 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and concert begins at 7 p.m. The band’s lineup includes Aaron Copland’s, “An Outdoor Overture” and the more contemporary, “Metroplex” by Robert Sheldon. Music from the movies includes, “The Pirates of the Caribbean” and “The Music Man”. A Broadway medley and music from “My Fair Lady” are also featured. The inaugural KPBS San Diego Book Festival on the University of San Diego campus is a free event for book lovers of all ages. Fun and fast-paced, life drawing is a wonderful way to be in the moment. Learn how to draw the human figure, hone your existing skills, and develop some new ones. This class is for all levels of skill. Materials: Newsprint pad, 18” x 24”; soft vine charcoal; kneaded eraser. You are welcome to bring along any materials not on the list that you already have and would like to use. The instructor will provide some unusual art supplies with which to experiment. The San Diego County Fair will begin its "Summer Pet-tacular" Wednesday, bringing wild rides, hot musical acts and crazy culinary concoctions to the Del Mar Fairgrounds through July 6.

Use this time to finish any previous project started at an ArtReach workshop. We kindly ask that adults actively participate in this art activity alongside any child under the age of 11.
