Kids explore ceramics and woodworking! Mon through Fri | July 28 – Aug 1 | 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Ages 7-12 years welcome! This week of Summer Camp is all about ceramics & woodworking for kids! Kids learn woodworking hand tool techniques from woodworking professional, Steffanie Dotson. A mom, woodworker, furniture maker, and Executive Director at San Diego Craft Collective, she teaches woodworking to both children and adults year-round. With a focus on safety, Steffanie creatively mentors children and fosters confidence through woodworking. Kids will also explore ceramics with visual artist-educator, Lydia Kardos. Each camper will learn and practice ceramic hand building techniques to make fun, long-lasting projects in this traditional medium full of creative flexibility. This camp is for kids, ages 7-12 years. Projects and depth of learning are matched up to the children’s age/ability. OPTIONAL | Lunch Hour Supervision If there is a camp ending as ours begins and you need your child transferred from another camp, let us know! If your child is signed up for morning and afternoon camps here at The Maac at Liberty Station (the building San Diego Craft Collective is located in–Dorothy Laub Music & Arts Center), we’re here to provide that space for your them. Conversations about life before, during and after action provide a deeper appreciation for those who’ve served.

Kiefer is a central figure in the diverse independent music scene of Los Angeles. His sound fuses various modalities of Black American Music, from jazz and R&B to hip-hop and electronic music. Kiefer grew up in San Diego, California, immersed in jazz by his father at a young age, and later experimented with hip-hop-inspired beats in high school. While studying jazz piano at UCLA, Kiefer got his education in beats from attending shows at Low End Theory and collaborating with other artists in the scene. Hard-hitting beats, complex jazz voicings and sentimental melodies all fed into Kiefer’s debut, Kickinit Alone, released on Leaving Records in 2017. Soon after, Kiefer signed to Stones Throw and released two LPs: "Happysad" (2018), and "When There’s Love Around" (2021). Outside of his solo work, Kiefer has recorded with artists such as Drake, Kaytranada, Sir, and Terrace Martin, and produced for Anderson .Paak on his Grammy Award winning record, “Ventura”. Kiefer at his core is both emotional and an optimist, which is why his songs resonate on a wide spectrum of emotion. As part of the 32nd annual San Diego Latino Film Festival's 'Arte Latino' we are partnering with the 'Rhythm & Roots' Arts and Culture series (Charanga Night), Senses Human Bistro, and UCSD Park & Market to bring you an amazing night of film, art, music, dancing, food, drinks and a great time with friends old and new. We will start the night off with a meet the Artist Reception from 4:30-6 p.m. on the second floor next to the Digital Gym Cinema where you will see some amazing Art and meet some of the Artists who created it. We will be posting some artist information in the discussion portion of this invite. Arte Latino is curated by Andy Gonzalez (La Onda Arte Latino). This portion is FREE! Next (6-9 p.m.) you will be treated to some amazing LIVE music by 'Charanga NYS' lead by Joseph Aportela who also happens to be a featured artist at our Film Festival this year. The Rhythm & Roots series happens monthly at the Senses Human Bistro on the first floor and is about as good as it gets when it comes to Latin Jazz in San Diego.
