  • On Saturday, April 23, four-legged friends and their owners can join City Cruises to celebrate “San Diego Pet Day on the Bay.” City Cruises is welcoming pups aboard four different one-hour themed “Pirates and Mermaids” sightseeing cruises. The narrated cruises include special doggie treats from Kahoots, a local pet store chain (as well as drinks and bites for owners), the opportunity to see over 50 San Diego landmarks, and the best part - dogs ride free on this cruise, as well as throughout the entire summer! While on board, guests will have the opportunity to talk to professional adoption counselors from Helen Woodward Animal Center who will treat guests to some puppy time with dogs that are available for adoption. A portion of the proceeds from the event will also be donated to the Helen Woodward Animal Center and guests are encouraged to contribute a gently used blanket or towel to donate. All sizes and breeds of dogs are welcome. A few simple rules make Pet Day on the Bay fun for everyone: One dog per adult is welcome. The event is not open to dogs under six months of age. All dogs MUST be on a leash at all times. No retractable leashes are allowed. Owners must clean up after their dogs. No dogs in heat are allowed. The cruise is not recommended for dogs that are sensitive to movement or get motion sickness. This event is not appropriate for dogs that are unpredictable in crowds or dislike strangers or other dogs. This event is for dogs and people only. Please do not bring other pets. Cats do not want to attend. Your dog should wear a current rabies tag to board. We'll ask you to sign a waiver for you and your dog at check in. Tickets for the July 4 fireworks viewing are only $20.00 per person for entry starting at 7 p.m. to remain on the Maritime Museum of San Diego’s McKinney Deck of the historic national and state landmark 1898 steam ferry Berkeley for spectacular views of fireworks over San Diego Bay. The Maritime Museum waterfront barge to the rear of the Berkeley will also be available as a fireworks viewing option.
