This Saturday, March 1, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Learn foldforming and the art of patinas with award-winning metal artist and blacksmith, Pat Downing. In this all-day class, students will learn about safety, tools, and the basic methods of both foldforming and patinas. The class will consist of 3 hours of forming techniques and 3 hours focusing on patinas, with a one-hour lunch break. This is a hands-on techniques class designed to show how one can achieve folds and then apply patinas to finished pieces. In this class, students will work in copper, but the methods taught can be used in almost any metal and size, from jewelry to public art. What to bring: BYF (bring your favorite) hammer & safety glasses, if you have them. If not, you can borrow from ours. Students are welcome to bring a lunch to eat at the studio or nearby, or may purchase lunch nearby (there are many options in Liberty Station). Materials fee of $10 (cash only) to be paid to the instructor at the start of the class and includes copper and patinas. This class is appropriate for ages 18 years and older. No prior experience necessary. The artists of Spanish Village Art Center invite you to enjoy an afternoon of art in their working artist studios and colorful courtyard in Balboa Park. These working art studios enable visitors to meet artists, see demonstrations and enjoy the unique atmosphere. Join us May 10th & 11th, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., for our 48th Annual Spring Arts and Crafts Fair, a San Diego tradition for the whole family! A truly All-Artisan fair, where all the works are hand-crafted and sold by the artists and crafters themselves. Fair FAQ's: -Over 125 Hand-picked vendors from across Southern California, with everything from handmade jewelry, soaps, paintings and sculpture, local honey, clothing, pottery, items for the home and garden and much more! -Outside wine bars are located throughout the winery grounds -Grab and go Italian fare from the Kitchen restaurant in the courtyard. There will also be a food court located on the East side of the fair -The permanent winery village shops are also open during the fair, -Manzanita Roasting Co coffee shop open at 8 a.m. -Please do not attend the fair if you are ill. -Plenty of seating is available for enjoying wine and food across the winery. -Admission is free.
