  • Art San Diego, to be held at the San Diego Convention on Harbor Drive from November 1-3, 2024, is an annual cultural experience featuring approximately 500 leading contemporary artists, fine art photographers, and designers; it offers dynamic programming that includes curated exhibits, local talent, and student artists. Now celebrating its 16th year, Art San Diego is the region’s most acclaimed and longest-running contemporary art and design fair and the only marketplace where artists, art publishers, galleries, art students, and dealers all come together to celebrate and showcase postmodern art. Produced by Redwood Art Group, with presenting sponsor UBS Wealth Management, Art San Diego is a unique art fair that serves to enhance the artistic culture of “America’s Finest City” while it also raises thousands of dollars through its Access to Art program, via student artwork sales and donations, to help Monarch School and Humble Design, both of which are non-profits that benefit unhoused families. UBS hosts a VIP reception of high-net-worth collectors, by invitation only, on Friday evening. Over the weekend, ASD attracts more than 5,000 art lovers, giving them insights into San Diego’s vibrant and diverse cultural art scene alongside an exciting collection of international galleries. • From gallerist Michael James Armstrong: I’m excited to be showing a new site specific projection by Phil Beaumont. I can’t remember when I first met Phil. It seems he, along with his wife Yuko, have been staples in the San Diego art scene for as long as I’ve lived here. They are routinely some of the most dedicated supporters of local artists and have acquired a well curated collection. Phil is also a talented musician and singer for the band The Color Forty Nine and until recently was the principal at The Museum School for many years. About the exhibition: Phils new body of work is a series of iPhone videos shot in portrait orientation. Varied in subject matter, each video has an overarching theme of quiet solitude and subtle movement that sometimes borders on near stillness. If patient, the viewer is rewarded with an ethereal state of calm. The piece Furano Hotel is a site specific projection that is perfectly situated within Ice Gallery. We hope to see you at the opening on Saturday February 10th from 5-8pm. If you can’t make the opening, the gallery will be open to the public Tuesday – Friday 11-4. Related links: ICE Gallery website
