Students in grades 4, 8 and 10 are invited to submit an essay on suggested topics for a chance to win great prizes. Deadline for submissions is 3:00 PM on Friday, December 18, 2015. Winners will be announced in the spring of 2016.

Because KPBS believes you are never too young to learn to love to read, the One Book for Kids Committee selected a companion book to "Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafón for children ten and under, "The Fanstastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore" by William Joyce. KPBS also partnered with Reach Out and Read-San Diego to select a companion book for our youngest readers, "It's a Little Book," by Lane Smith.
