SDSU Releases Redevelopment Plan Revision for Public Review

San Diego State University officials are bringing back a campus redevelopment project for residents to scrutinize. KPBS Reporter Ana Tintocalis has more.

A recent court ruling forces California State University campuses to pay for their "fair share" of transportation improvements linked to redevelopment plans. San Diego State officials want to expand the campus to include classrooms and student housing. Nearby residents haven't supported the plan partly because SDSU officials weren't willing to pay for the needed improvements. Resident Scott Moomjian says he's glad community member have a second chance to review the plan and offer suggestions.

Moomjian: They really have to pick-up their fair share now. So I think that changes the position of the university in relation to its project. And also in terms of what the community can expect as well.

University officials say they'll review the community's feedback and find out which improvements they are legally obligated to address. Ana Tintocalis, KPBS News.
