Friday, January 29, 2010
As executive director of Somali Family Service, Ahmed Sahid works to help Somali and other East African refugees and immigrants build self-sufficiency and decrease their dependence on public assistance in the United States. The non-profit organization seeks to encourage and empower disenfranchised members of the Somali community to become well-adjusted, responsible and contributing members of our society.
For more than 20 years, Sahid has worked to make a difference by developing and administering programs that assure that culturally and linguistically competent services are accessible to underserved East African refugees. He has served on numerous foundation and organization boards, including the State Advisory Council, San Diego Foundation Intergroup Relations Committee and the San Diego Refugee Forum.
