Carlsbad Middle School One Of Five In CA Given Honor

Calavera Hills Middle School in Carlsbad was named today as one of "California's Schools to Watch-Taking Center Stage" model campuses by the state Department of Education.

Calavera Hills was singled out for programs that pair struggling pupils with special needs students to build their self-confidence.

"I congratulate each of these schools for earning this well-deserved designation," said Tom Torlakson, the state superintendent of public instruction. "Each school met the distinctive needs of their middle grades students by building strong academic and extracurricular programs to support achievement for each student."
