A recycling company in San Diego is taking electronic items, whether working or not, and restoring them for use by injured troops.
While many charity programs focus on donating items to overseas soldiers, Recycle San Diego is focused on providing personal electronic items for injured troops at home.
Residents of the San Diego area can drop off any unwanted laptops, cell phones, iPods, LCD flat-screen TVs, portable DVD players and other personal electronic items whether they work or not.
Recycle San Diego restores and refurbishes the items and donates them to injured troops.
The company even uses badly damaged electronics, often combining parts from other items to create an essentially new, refurbished product.
Those electronics which still have workable parts left are saved and used for further projects.
