Above: A rendering of what the planned departure curb will look like when the renovations of Lindbergh Field’s Terminal 2 are complete. A two story road will be built in front of the terminal. Departing passengers will be dropped off on the upper level. Arriving passengers will emerge from the airport on the lower level.

The parking lot closed two years ago as part of the airport's Terminal 2 expansion project and was partially reopened in July 2012, offering 700 spots.

San Diego County Regional Airport Authority president Thella Bowens said despite limited parking during the project, passengers have been accommodating.

"The public has been very, very good about understanding the need to expand the facility and tolerating the inconvenience of the parking," Bowens said.

Within the past two months, an expanded security checkpoint and six new passenger gates inside Terminal 2 opened. The project is expected to be complete and open in August.

The location prohibits more RUNWAY space, but we can have more parking.

Mayor Sanders started this idiocy of sinking billions into a doomed airport, I wish Mayor Filner would have tried to pull the plug on it but I suppose it's too late for that.

Do the folks who are in favor of his mess realize that you can keep adding parking and nice new terminals to WAIT in, but eventually it's all a waste if you can't add more space for PLANES to take off/land!?
