Navy Fires Squadron Commanding Officer For Alleged Affair

U.S. Navy

Cmdr. Edward White

The Navy has relieved Cmdr. Edward White of his duties as commanding officer of Strike Fighter Squadron 106 for allegedly carrying on an extramarital affair with a civilian employee of the Navy.

According to Naval Air Force Atlantic Public Affairs, Rear Adm. Michael Shoemaker fired White...

...due to loss of confidence in his ability to command following the preliminary findings of an on-going command investigation into an alleged inappropriate relationship with a female Department of the Navy civilian employee.

Naval Air Force Atlantic spokesman Lt. Cmdr. Mike Kafka told The Navy Times the civilian employee with whom White was allegedly having an affair was not within his chain of command.

White is married with two children.

Cmdr. Brent Blackmer has replaced White as commander of Strike Fighter Squadron 106.

The Navy has temporarily assigned White to Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic, pending final results of the investigation into White's alleged inappropriate relationship.

I once heard John Wooden say that staying in love with their mother was the greatest thing a man could do for his children. Great man!

This poor guy loses his career for an affair with an agreeing partner. Filner gets to negotiate to resign. What a travesty of justice. Apparently, there is zero tolerance in the military. Politics is amok with Clinton, Weiner, Filner, Jesse Jackson,Edwards,MLK and all of the other perverts who make the news on a regular basis.

We have standards.
We try to uphold them.
We aren't perfect, but we do try.

I wouldn't go putting the commander into the same category as Bill Clinton, certainly not MLK (especially if we're using "willing partners" as the metric).

In looking at your list, M1, one would think Republicans never commit acts of adultery. How convenient of you to omit the likes of Craig and Sanford.

Rick, thanks. I forgot Sanford and Craig. I can't believe Sanford got elected again. But we are talking about South Carolina. They were proud of him there, because his new beau was not related.
