The new Aspire Center for veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan is now open in San Diego. The new residential treatment facility in Old Town can house 40 veterans, suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or the effects of traumatic brain injury. It's being called the first-of-its kind facility in the nation.
San Diego County is home to the third largest number of veterans in the nation, behind Los Angeles County and Maricopa County, Arizona. According to a report by the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce found nearly 29,000 are veterans of recent conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq live in the region.
