Most San Diegans are opposed to the County Board of Supervisors' attempts to overturn California's medical marijuana law. That's one of the findings from the latest KPBS/Competitive Edge Research Poll. KPBS Reporter Kenny Goldberg has the story.
The new poll shows more than six out of ten County residents say elected officials should cooperate with the state's medical marijuana law.
Those who have smoked pot are more to likely to say California's statute should prevail over federal anti-drug laws. But even a majority of non-smokers and Republicans are opposed to the County Supervisors' position.
Competitive Edge Research president John Nienstedt directs the poll.
Nienstedt: "You know, you look at the different breakouts that we have, there is not a majority really in any group that we found that support where the Board is coming from."
The poll also reveals most San Diegans believe marijuana is a less serious problem in the community than prescription drugs, methamphetamine, or alcohol. Kenny Goldberg, KPBS News.
