The Mexican Government is asking for a seat at the table as United States lawmakers hammer out immigration reform. KPBS Reporter Erik Anderson has details.
Mexico has taken out full page advertisements in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post. The Mexican Ambassador to the United States - Carlos De Casa - says his government wants U.S. lawmakers to know Mexico's position.
We want our position to be clear. We want Americans to know that your neighbors are offering commitments, that are ready to work with their American counterparts on immigration issues.
De Casa says his government does not promote the flow of undocumented immigrants across the border. He says Mexico is asking the U.S. to develop a fair immigration policy and he wants lawmakers on this side of the border to work with his countrymen to forge a policy that works for both nations.
