Members of the border-watching Minutemen Project ended their caravan across the United States in Washington, DC Friday. The group is still calling for tighter border security and also accuses California lawmakers of supporting amnesty. Capitol Hill Correspondent Jill Morrison was there.
The controversial Minutemen that President Bush called "vigilantes" started their trip in Los Angeles. They ended with a rally in the nation's capitol to pressure Congress to enforce immigration laws, secure the border and not grant amnesty to illegal immigrants. Minuteman Communications Director Marvin Stewart lives in Long Beach and has done numerous tours watching the border- He says California lawmakers aren't doing their job.
Stewart: "They need to be charged for their complicity and violating the very laws they swore an oath to protect home. That goes for Feinstein, Boxer. It goes for all of them."
The Senate makes a second attempt to pass immigration reform next week. The Minutemen say they may not be able to stop the Senate bill. But they will start a massive drive to vote against any lawmaker who votes for amnesty.
