San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders says he won't take a position on a ballot measure that would select Miramar as a future airport site. KPBS reporter Beth Ford Roth has more.
Sanders complimented the Airport Authority for its comprehensive review of all possible airport sites. He said the Authority has made it clear the only viable options for a future airport location are on military bases. But Sanders says the military has made it equally clear it won't make Miramar, Pendleton, or North Island available for joint-use with a new civilian airport.

That is why I won't be taking a position on the airport authority's ballot measure, but rather working as your mayor to maintain a constructive dialogue with the military, continued dialogue with our community and the military is important so that when, and if the military's priorities change, we will be in a position to seize the opportunity.
The full Airport Authority Board will vote June 5th on which site to put before voters in November. Beth Ford Roth, KPBS news.
