Dozens of disgruntled service workers at Rady Children's Hospital picketed the facility Wednesday. Workers say the latest contract offer from the hospital just doesn't cut it. KPBS Reporter Kenny Goldberg has more.
That's the amount Rady Children's Hospital reported in profit last year. Picketing workers complain even so, the hospital is trying to nickel and dime them in the new contract.
Lucila Conde works as an interpreter at the facility.
Conde: "For many years they've been saying that they're just breaking even, or they have losses, and it's time to reward the employees that make that profit possible."
But hospital officials say much of that money came in the form of donations for equipment and other needs.
Children's and the service workers union have been trying to hammer out their first labor agreement for nearly two years. Both sides say they're getting closer. Kenny Goldberg, KPBS News.
