Advocates Respond to Medical Marijuana Ruling
A tentative ruling dismissing the County's challenge to Prop 215, has medical marijuana advocates waiting to see if things change in San Diego. KPBS Reporter Kenny Goldberg has the story. San Diego County officials have not been welcoming to medical marijuana. The Board of Supervisors has refused to issue ID cards to medical marijuana patients. It initiated the lawsuit challenging Prop. 215. And the District Attorney has shut down all publicly operating marijuana dispensaries.
Bruce Mirken: Patients need their medicine, and everybody is better off if they're getting it from above-board, openly operating regulated establishments, rather than on the streets.
Seven counties and two dozen cities in the state have passed laws regulating dispensaries. But San Diego County officials argue they're illegal under state law. Kenny Goldberg, KPBS News.
