Health care reform will take center stage today, as Governor Schwarzenegger unveils his ideas for fixing the state’s troubled system. Meanwhile, the latest Field Poll shows California voters have some strong opinions on the matter. KPBS Reporter Kenny Goldberg has more.

The Field Poll shows voters overwhelmingly support the idea of requiring employers to provide health insurance. And a strong majority also believe the state should do what it can to reduce the number of people who are uninsured.

Mark DiCamillo directs the Field Poll. He says the bottom line is a mood does exist for significant healthcare reform.

DiCamillo: And now the question is, is there sufficient political will among the governor and the state legislature to fashion a package that could make these reforms a reality?”

Governor Schwarzenegger says reforming the healthcare system is his number one priority. Democratic lawmakers say they’re ready to take action. But Republican legislators aren’t so sure.
