Local Museum Preparing for Dead Sea Scrolls Exhibition

Two thousand years of history will unveil itself at the San Diego Natural History Museum this June. Several dozen coveted Dead Sea Scrolls will be on display, some of which have never been seen before

They were created some two-thousand years ago. But the Dead Sea Scrolls were hidden in Israeli caves until 1947, when a goat herder happened across one of the relics on the banks of the Dead Sea. Now 27 parchment and papyrus texts are coming to San Diego, even though many of them have never been on public display, even in Israel. The San Diego Natural History Museum is busy making preparations and raising money to display one of the world's most significant archeological finds. Guests:

  • Risa Levitt Kohn - SDSU Religious Studies Professor, Dead Sea Scrolls Curator
