The mayor's plan is to stop unnecessary engine idling to reduce air pollution and fuel costs. Sanders says he's not sure how much money the new regulation will save, but it will reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Sanders : We're going to further reduce the city's generation of greenhouse gas emissions like carbon, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide and sulfur oxide. We'll also reduce particulate emissions as well.

The city's regulation applies to vehicles powered by gasoline, diesel, propane and natural gas. Carbon dioxide emissions from vehicles are the main form of greenhouse gas pollution.
