A couple of Clairemont middle schools are gearing up to switch campuses. KPBS Reporter Ana Tintocalis has more.
Kroc Middle School and the Creative, Performing Media Arts magnet school will make the switch in 2008, but the planning begins this academic year. The swap provides a better match for each school in terms of size. The magnet has a large student population on a small campus. Kroc has a small student population on a large campus. Micheal Peacock is one of many parents who rallied for the change.
Peacock: This initiative is exciting -- radical enough to get parents attention and reflective of our needs.
Kroc will reopen as a science and technology school. District officials say they need to iron out the naming rights for the new school and pinpoint how much it will cost to make the swap. The transition is a way to keep Clairemont students in Clairemont. Ana Tintocalis, KPBS News.
