Imperial Valley Update: Housing Woes, Solar Energy, Beautification of El Centro
Tom Fudge: If you think the housing slowdown has been tough on San Diego, you're right. But some new neighborhoods of the Imperial Valley have it even tougher. Housing tracts that were created, in large part, as bedroom communities for the San Diego area, have gotten a double whammy. They've been the victim of falling home prices and high gas prices that make long commutes a bad idea.
The problem of new developments at risk of becoming ghost towns is at the top of our news report from the Imperial Valley. In addition to that, we'll talk about the development of a very large solar energy plant near El Centro. And the fact that even brass church bells are not sacred in the mind of the thieves.
