Local Iranian Community Prepares for Persian New Year
Maureen Cavanaugh : Tomorrow we all get to celebrate the arrival of spring, but for San Diego's Iranian community it's also the beginning of a new year. The traditional holiday of Nowruz is a time for Iranians to honor their Persian heritage.
And just like other New Year's celebrations, it's a time of great joy, with a focus on food, family, dancing and even a bit of poetry.
The House of Iran will be featured at the International Cottages in Balboa Park this Sunday, March 22, 2009, with music, dancing and food.
