Female Soldier Killed In Afghanistan

Army Pfc. Patricia L. Horne, 20, died August 24 in Bagram, Afghanistan, according to the Department of Defense. No cause of death was given.

Horne was assigned to the 96th Aviation Support Battalion, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell in Kentucky.

Horne had written on her Facebook page that she graduated from Greenwood High School in Mississippi in 2010. She lists her hometown as Opelousas, Louisiana.

A friend who had learned of Horne's death wrote on her Facebook page:

I love you so much you are my first love and my bestfriend. You have accomplished Soo much. I think about you everyday n my heart is broken but I have memories that I would never forget. I thank God for me being able to be apart of your life. I miss you and love you.. If you are a battle buddy of Patricia thank you I have the utmost respect.

According to the Hattiesburg American, a total of 36 U.S. service women have lost their lives in Operation Enduring Freedom, with 24 of those women in the Army.
