SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose today for the 11th consecutive day, increasing 1.1 cents to $4.06.

The average price has risen 18.7 cents over the past 11 days and is 14.9 cents more than one week ago and 6.3 cents higher than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

However, thanks to a 17-day streak of falling prices before the increases began, the average price is 28.9 cents less than one year ago.

The increasing pump prices follow a sharp rise in wholesale gasoline prices that came in response to reports that extensive maintenance would be conducted at the Exxon Mobil refinery in Torrance for nearly all of May, reducing supply, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
