A San Diego theater production is having its day in the national spotlight after Tuesday's announcement of the 68th annual Tony Awards nominees.

Born at the Old Globe Theatre, "A Gentleman's Guide To Love And Murder" led the pack with 10 nods. "Hedwig and the Angry Itch," starring Neil Patrick Harris, had the second-most nominations with eight.

The Old Globe celebrated the news in a post on its Facebook page:

"A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder just received 10 Tony Award nominations! The new musical, which had its world premiere at The Old Globe last year, led all shows for the theatre world's most prestigious award. Congrats to all, we're so proud of you!"

"A Gentleman's Guide" opened on Broadway in late 2013, according to Playbill Vault.

Earlier this year, the production picked up five honors at the annual Craig Noel Awards, which celebrates the best in San Diego theater.
