Join hosts Kathy Lennon of the Lennon Sisters and Tina Cole of The Four King Cousins, for this new MY MUSIC special dedicated to the sweet, sentimental sounds of sibling singing groups including the Andrews Sisters, the McGuire Sisters, the Lennon Sisters, the King Sisters and others. "Sister Acts" (MY MUSIC) is part of special programming premiering on PBS stations in May 2015.

Beginning with the pioneering and influential Boswell Sisters in the 1920s, sister acts became popular attractions in American music with radio, film, stage and record performances that enchanted audiences with sweetly harmonic love songs and bouncy novelty numbers.

The Andrews Sisters, who emerged during the Big Band era, became nationwide favorites with a string of huge hits such as “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” and “I’ll Be With You in Apple Blossom Time.”

During this time the King Sisters also emerged and were among the songbirds frequently seen on television variety shows, an outlet that helped make stars out of the McGuire Sisters, who enjoyed top tunes like “Sugartime” and “Something’s Gotta Give,” followed by the lovely young Lennon Sisters, who were seen as weekly regulars for over a decade on the iconic “Lawrence Welk Show.” These sweethearts of song appealed to listeners of all ages at a time when families would gather to enjoy entertainment together.

"Sister Acts" (MY MUSIC) includes the following selections:

The Andrews Sisters: “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”; “Bei Mir Bist Du Schon”/“Don’t Fence Me In”/“Pennsylvania Polka”; “I’ll Be With You in Apple Blossom Time”

The McGuire Sisters: “Just For Old Time’s Sake”; “Something’s Gotta Give”; “Sugartime”; “Picnic”; “Bye Bye Blackbird”; “Baby Medley”

The Boswell Sisters: “Heebie Jeebies”
