"Guys and Dolls"

The Old Globe stages its first-ever production of "Guys and Dolls," a show considered one of the greatest musicals of all time.

Here's the story: Nathan Detroit is having trouble keeping his "oldest established permanent floating crap game" going. He’s also got his hands full with his marriage-minded girlfriend Adelaide. But when Nathan makes a bet with high-roller Sky Masterson, his problems appear to be solved.

But what people remember most are the songs, including "Luck Be a Lady," "I’ve Never Been in Love Before," and "Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat."

Details: Runs July 2 through Aug. 13 (dates and times vary). Old Globe Theatre, Balboa Park. $40 to $105; find tickets.

The Krispy Kreme Ice Cream Chicken Sandwich is by far the most creative option at the 2017 San Diego County Fair. It features a crispy chicken breast and vanilla ice cream between glazed doughnuts. Then it's topped with Fruity Pebbles cereal and syrup.
