SD Fringe Preview: ‘Space Force’

Lonesome Whistle Productions has a Fringe entry this year

VIDEO: SD Fringe Preview: 'Space Force'

Co-writer and actor Michael Shantz talks about Lonesome Whistle Productions' 2019 San Diego International Fringe entry "Space Force."

Lonesome Whistle Productions was founded in 2017 and is committed to developing innovative solo theater and original stage writing. The company’s debut production was “One Man Bond” at last year's San Diego International Fringe Festival followed by “Bond on Third” (Onstage Playhouse) and “Bond on Draper” (La Jolla Theatre Ensemble) in 2019. Founder Tom Steward co-wrote "Space Force" with Shantz and the show riffs on 1980s action movies and cops shows on TV but with an undercurrent of commentary on today's politics.

Prepare to be welcomed to the future and to the rebellion when you enter Marie Hitchcock Puppet Theatre.

Remaining performances are: June 9 at 4 p.m., June 12 at 6 p.m., June 15 at 9 p.m. and June 16 at 6 p.m.

opening quote marksclosing quote marksI cover arts and culture, from Comic-Con to opera, from pop entertainment to fine art, from zombies to Shakespeare. I am interested in going behind the scenes to explore the creative process; seeing how pop culture reflects social issues; and providing a context for art and entertainment.
