Nina Garin is now the Editor-in-Chief of Pacific magazine. Her first issue is out and can be found throughout downtown San Diego and Pacific Beach. The October issue with Lizzo on the cover signifies a shift in the target audience. Garin's goal is to reflect San Diego's diversity by reaching all of the city's demographic groups.
"I think Pacific represents San Diego and San Diego is a city of diversity. I grew up in Chula Vista. I am Mexican. I am Jewish. I am a woman. All of my friends around me were Filipino, black everything and I want them to be able to feel like they can pick the magazine up," Garin said.
Garin joined Midday Edition on Friday to talk about what people can expect in upcoming issues of Pacific.
