In a comedy-drama set in the 1960s, a South Wales coal mining community is changed forever following the death of the local doctor, whose replacement comes as quite a shock to the villagers. High-flying Delhi graduate Dr Prem Sharma and his wife, Kamini, eschew a glamorous lifestyle in London for the sleepy Welsh village of Trefelin. There, they quickly become embroiled in the lives of the villagers, although the regal Kamini is determined they are leaving as soon as possible.

Episode 2: "The Diary" airs Sunday, May 9 at 8 p.m. on KPBS TV - Colliery manager Richard Sharpe (Mark Williams - FATHER BROWN) is desperate to get hold of a mysterious diary left behind by Prem's predecessor Dr. Elwyn, and hires local street urchin Dan Griffiths to steal the book from the surgery. However, he underestimates Kamini's attentiveness, and the lad is caught in the act, leading to a heated confrontation. Meanwhile, the doctor has an emergency of his own to deal with when he is asked to make an unusual house call.

Episode 3: “Young Hearts” airs Sunday, May 16 at 8 p.m. on KPBS TV - Kamini Sharma is still desperate to leave the village of Trefelin. But, as she tries to escape she finds herself becoming the only person who can help local tearaway Dan whose wild ways get him in trouble.

With the previous doctor's green leather diary found, Prem's friendship with Megan deepens as she translates it from Welsh into English and they realise that Dr. Elwyn's diary holds vital clues to the deteriorating health of the local miners.

When Prem questions the mine manager Sharpe about the miners' health, Sharpe tries to persuade the doctor that health hazards are just an unfortunate part of a miner's job. Meanwhile Gina, Prem's receptionist, is falling recklessly in love with Tom.
