A California couple tries one more time to have a baby by crossing the border and getting fertility treatment in Tijuana. It’s a story about the lengths you’ll go through when the future you envisioned is suddenly out of reach.

Grecia and Mark Devlin knew they wanted to have kids. But when the Southern California couple started trying to conceive, a year went by without success.

That kicked off a journey, which eventually led to Tijuana, Mexico, where the Devlins underwent in vitro fertilization, or IVF. It’s by far the most expensive fertility treatment. But in Mexico, it's costs a fraction of what it does in California.

Port of Entry,” a border podcast from KPBS and PRX, continues its series on medical tourism at the border with this story about crossing the U.S.-Mexico border to try one last time to have a baby. It’s a story about the lengths some people will go to when the future they envisioned is suddenly out of reach.
