Jeff Soto Brings Storm Clouds to Comic-Con

Soto is based in L.A., and his work falls squarely in the pop surrealism movement, sometimes called lowbrow, most associated with the art magazine Juxtapoz and Giant Robot . & Like a lot of the fine artists working in this genre, Soto started out as a graffiti artist. & The combination of Soto's art and Mark's book design will likely result in a beautiful collector's item. Storm Clouds includes essays from Soto, Murphy, senior curator at Riverside Art Museum Peter Frank, and "dirty style" artist David Choe . & The Limited Edition will include a custom-printed box, a signed book, and four archival prints. Soto has also created limited edition zines for sale only at Comic-Con.

If you're traveling through Laguna on the way down to the Con, you should check out the exhibit In the Land of Retinal Delights: The Juxtapoz Factor at the Laguna Art Museum. It's a comprehensive look at the development of the pop surrealist movement.
