“Clash of the Titans” (opening April 2 throughout San Diego in select theaters in 3D) was NOT what I expected.
I have some questions for director Louis Leterrier beginning with, “Where is the gore?” And then, “Why was the ending so simple? Will there be a second one that will be much better than the first one?”
This movie and its story of Perseus’ perilous journey and its multiple tasks reminded me a lot of story of Hercules. In “Clash of the Titans,” the main character of Perseus (Sam Worthington) is half man, half god, son of Zeus… blah blah blah. He ends up being the hero of the story by killing the bad guys and saving the city. The end. You know the drill. BUT NO! I wanted blood! And I thought Perseus had it way too easy to get what he wanted.
The music (by Ramin Djawadi) was great though. I do have to say the movie was pretty good. I was just expecting a lot more. The actors did a phenomenal job, and the mythical creatures were awesome! The computer generated images were just amazing. But I didn’t really see why the movie was in 3D. I think overall there were only about four parts where the 3D even seemed to make a difference. So for the most part it wouldn’t have made a difference whether you were wearing the glasses or not.
During the first twenty minutes of the film I was like, “Okay, hopefully this gets better.” Then it got really good with the fighting scenes, and then I don’t know what happened. I don’t want to say too much about the movie because it’s so short and so little happens that I don’t want to end up spoiling it. But you should definitely go watch it.
Overall “Clash of the Titans” (rated PG-13 for fantasy action violence, some frightening images and brief sensuality) has a nice story behind it and some parts will make you cry or laugh or just scare you right out of your seat!
