The game show Jeopardy! is looking for active-duty service members to compete in a special tournament for military contestants.
According to the show's website, active-duty military will be able to take an online test on October 9th, the first step in qualifying to be on the program.
Shameless Self-Promotion Alert: I was a contestant on Jeopardy! in April of 2011. I first had to pass the online test, then was invited to audition at a hotel conference room in Culver City. That audition included taking another 50 question test and participation in a mock game of Jeopardy! - followed by a question and answer session (in front of the other aspiring contestants) conducted by one of the contestant coordinators.
I was as nervous as heck being on the show, but the folks who make Jeopardy! happen couldn't have been more supportive or encouraging to the crop of contestants who showed up to compete. From the stage director to the make-up artist, each person I came in contact with during my Jeopardy! experience treated me as if I were a celebrity.
OK - end of shameless self-promotion. But I hope I inspired you to try and take the test. Who knows? You could be the next Ken Jennings...
