The unemployment rate in San Diego County dropped slightly last month to 10.3 percent, down from a revised 10.7 percent in October, a state agency reported today.
Between October and November, the San Diego region added 4,500 jobs, most in the trade, transportation and utilities sectors, according to the California Employment Development Department.
Despite the decline, the local unemployment rate remains well above the 6.9 percent jobless rate of year ago.
California's unemployment rate also dropped slightly to 12.3 percent in November, down from 12.5 percent in October, with 10,200 jobs shed statewide during the month, according to the EDD.
"The modest decrease in California's unemployment rate this month is promising news, but with too many Californians still unemployed, job growth remains my top priority," Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said in a statement.
"This includes promoting the clean technology industries and creating green jobs to stimulate our economy," he said. "We will continue doing everything possible to boost hiring, assist unemployed Californians and promote economic growth."
The national unemployment rate last month was 9.4 percent, down from 9.5 percent in October, according to the EDD.
