San Diego’s business community wants to make visiting the city a better experience for foreign business travelers. There is now an organization to coordinate these visits.
The World Trade Center of San Diego is a non-profit that helps local companies trade their products internationally. Now it’s created an International Relations Office. The office will work with local companies and foreign businesses to make trips to San Diego run more smoothly.
World Trade Center CEO Bella Heule says before the office was opened there wasn’t a coordinated effort.
“We were duplicating work that others were doing at the same time. And in the end we were stepping on each others' toes,” she said. “So we’re not taking business away from anybody, we’re just making it a lot more effective.”
Heule says the office will do things like pick up visitors at the airport and set up meetings with appropriate businesses and officials. She says the office will also make sure foreign business travelers are legitimate and aren’t wasting local official’s time.
