San Diego residents are being asked to drop off their prescription drugs at more than three dozen sites around the county as part of the second National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
with no questions asked.
The drop off sites include sheriff's sub-stations, pharmacies, and even some hospitals from South Bay to North County.
Last year's prescription drug take-back day yielded more than two tons of medications in San Diego and Imperial counties.
Tom Lenox is a special agent in the San Diego office of the Drug Enforcement Administration. Lenox said he hopes they'll collect even more tomorrow.
"This event really is a key component of our strategy towards attacking this problem by eliminating a source of supply for these drugs to get out into the illicit market," Lenox said.
Federal officials estimate more than 33 million Americans abuse prescription pain-killers.
