Standoff Continues at Palestinian Camp in Lebanon

Steve Inskeep, host:

An Islamist group that is inside a refugee camp continues its battle against the government of Lebanon.

This is a Palestinian camp, a sort of improvised city where people have lived for decades, and this is the place where fighting broke out last week. This week, Lebanon's army fired artillery shells into that camp and the militants inside responded with mortars. Lebanon's prime minister says we cannot compromise on the issue of terrorism, but at the same time the government says it is willing to give mediation a chance.
