VAUGHN OLIVER WELTY JOINS KPBS
New Director of Development brings Wealth of Experience
SAN DIEGO - KPBS Associate General Manager for Development, Stephanie Bergsma is pleased to announce that Vaughn Oliver Welty is joining her staff November 18 as the Director of Development.
With nearly 20 years of executive leadership experience including capital campaigns, major gifts, annual fund operations and strategic planning, Welty will strengthen the development operations at KPBS. He will be responsible for the Producers Club and helping to create and present special funding opportunities to foundations and major donors.
In his most recent position as Chief Development Officer at a large human services organization, Oliver started the development department and led a staff and volunteer team that raised $6 million for its capital campaign. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President of Brakeley Briscoe the international management and fundraising organization where he was involved with over 30 organizations during his eight year tenure.
He has served on numerous nonprofit boards and is active with the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
“We are fortunate to have Oliver join our team to help support KPBS’ ability to continue to provide news, information and entertainment to millions of San Diegans,” said Bergsma. “The development department secures over $2.5 million annually for KPBS and despite challenging economic conditions, we expect continued and growing support from the community.”
