KPBS has opened its 2020 Call for Submissions for San Diego area producers to submit ideas for a podcast, TV series, documentary, or web series.
The call for submissions is part of the KPBS Explore Local Content Project, which is a collaboration with local producers to grow the quality and quantity of uniquely local content.
Starting Aug. 1, KPBS will accept creative proposals through Oct. 1. Submissions will be reviewed and assessed for uniqueness, originality, sense of place, diversity, audience, and use across platforms.
Those with promising ideas will be asked to submit a full proposal with details on treatment, budget, and a production plan by Nov. 4.
KPBS opens its call for submissions every two years and provides seed money for those selected to produce the project. The station welcomes proposals of all kinds, but is especially interested in podcasts and TV series ideas.
“Podcasts are a big deal and we want to position KPBS as the place for smart and engaging content for a wide audience,” said John Decker, KPBS director of programming.
“TV series are the bread and butter of our schedule,” continued Decker. “We're looking to showcase new talent and diversity for our audiences.”
