San Diego Rates Likely To Rise Amidst Water War
GuestDennis Cushman, Assistant General Manager, San Diego County Water AuthorityStatement From The Metropolitan Water Authority
The headline this week was that water rates are probably going up again in San Diego. The LA-based Metropolitan Water District, voted to raise water rates by 5 percent in 2013 and another 5 percent in 2014.
The story behind the headline is that this vote is another chapter in the ongoing water war between Metropolitan and the San Diego County Water Authority. San Diego claims it's already being overcharged by the Metropolitan Water District and it has recently launched a website with claims it's the victim of secret deals being made among other water district members.
